Clinging onto Hope.
[Setting: A dimly lit restaurant, memories lingering in the air.]
Him: "Meet me at the restaurant we used to go to. I miss you. I know I pushed you away... you talked too much, but somehow it was annoyingly cute. It’s cold here, and I just want to be next to you, to cuddle. My walls were high, but you cracked them... remember when you promised me if i changed you'll be there? I thought maybe that was easy but i tried so I'm better now"
Friend: "Don't send that letter, man. She's gone."
Him: (sighs, hesitates) "Too late. But the number's blocked, so she won't see it."
Friend: "Oh... I see."
Him: "I never told her because I was scared, but I love her, man. (chuckles through tears) I really do. I keep hoping she’ll come back, but I know hope only lasts so long."
Friend: "So just unblock her."
Him: "And what then? Tell her I love her? I can't do that."
[Silence lingers, the weight of unspoken words heavy.]
Him: "I know I'll find someone else, but it won’t be her. I just want her back... but I can’t have her, can I?"
[They resume their game, the sound of the cue ball echoing the emptiness.]
